“Wet day, lucky event”: these the words of good omen said by the unforgettable Felice Gimondi at the beginning of the official presentation of the GimondiBike, which has taken place this morning in Iseo with an autumnal weather. A contagious optimism which belongs to a champion who considers mountain bike the future of bicycle, a way not to be “against tradition”, but to be modern. In his opinion, cycling is a way of going in for a healthy sport, in the middle of nature, and feeling the sense of liberty.
A particular attention to environment underlined by Mr. Alessandro Sala, Spokesman for Hunt and Fish of the Province of Brescia too, who has said that the GimondiBike is not only a big ludic, sporting and cultural event, but a means of exporting the Franciacorta brand too. Thanks to events like this a territory can be respected, exploited and lived during free time.
Spokesmen of borough of Iseo Mr. Emilio Agostini and Mr. Franco Zoni. The former has said that this race, born on the sly, has succeeded in reaching very important results within few years, with a growing success. The latter has proposed his point of view about mountain bike, perfect to make environment known, promote sport and make you feel better.
Mr. Angiolino Rondelli, talking for the provincial councillorship for the sport of Brescia, has pointed out that the Province of Brescia is proud of supporting an event like the GimondiBike, whose golden roll of honour is enough to express its high quality level.
Then it has been Nino Nulli’s turn, main sponsor, who besides praising the organizing ability shown by all staff, has underlined that the GimondiBike is a source of richness for everybody and has a particular social value: it is so deep inside all inhabitants who live in the territories in which it takes place, that participation is more and more active and passionate.
